Fetish Fix: ISOLA #2 (Image Comics)

After just two issues in, ISOLA from Image Comics might just be the next SAGA. I’d definitely recommend it to SAGA fans, maybe EXTREMITY and MONSTRESS (also from Image Comics) fans as well. A sufficient amount of positive word-of-mouth could help push this promising new fantasy series to the heights it deserves already. Certain manga fans could dig this as well. #Isola #FetishFix #FetishFav

SMOKETOWN from Scout Comics

Thanks to Smoketown #1 & 2, I’ve added Scout Comics to my list of enticing publishers. Good stuff. Check’em out.    Copy from the publisher: SMOKETOWN Written by Phillip Kennedy Art by Scott Van Domelan From acclaimed writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson (Warlords of Appalachia, Last Sons of America), and introducing artist Scott Van Domelen, comes the first in an interconnecting series of chapters in the tradition of David Lapham’s Stray Bullets, Brubaker/Phillips’ Criminal, and Pulp Fiction. Each chapter explores the final days of a murdered soldier from a new perspective, each one exposing the criminal side of a small industrial Pennsylvania town. In Chapter One, “Killing Marcus,” after a life-or-death situation, a battered wife and mother has until sunrise to cover up her husband’s murder, not knowing that her actions have set her up for a confrontation with some even more dangerous people.

Comic Book Fetish Fave of the Week #4

January 2017 | New Comics Week 4 — Saga #42 (Image Comics) I cannot honestly remember the last time a comic book made me tearful. The all-black back pages, easily six of them, really helped deliver the gut punch and the kick to the heart. I literally gasped “Really, Brian and Fiona!?!?” BKV may be the best in the biz with his issue-to-issue cliffhangers and even bigger story arc cliffhangers. But he also does not do cheap stunts/deaths/fakeouts. He always delivers on your emotional investment. Knowing that makes this issue burn intensely. Story: Brian K. Vaughan Art / Cover: Fiona Staples Published: January 25, 2017 Diamond ID: NOV160640 END OF STORY ARC “THE WAR FOR PHANG,” The Epic Conclusion! Hell is war, as Hazel and her family learn the hardest way. – See more at:
